Yancoal is a leading Australian coal producer and one of Australia’s largest coal exporters. Operating across eight sites in New South Wales, Queensland, and Western Australia, the company handles a massive heavy-industry footprint and employs a diverse workforce of over 4,000 personnel.
The challenge
Operating heavy-industry asset footprints across multiple states requires a highly strategic approach to fitness for work. Yancoal wanted to breathe life into their “Healthy Way” cultural vision but needed a comprehensive, data-led method to identify the exact gaps in their current workforce health offerings and map out a sustainable, structured plan across all operations.
The outcome
We conducted a comprehensive Workplace Health Needs Assessment (HNA) to systematically evaluate Yancoal’s existing health support initiatives against frontline workforce needs.
By mapping out current site initiatives against modifiable health risk factors, we highlighted the critical gaps in what they were offering workers, providing Yancoal leadership with the data-driven clarity required to prioritise future opportunities and build an organisation-specific annual health calendar.
