Welcome Imogen Young

Staff Profile: Imogen Young

We’re pleased to welcome Imogen Young to Ethos Health, who joined us at the start of the month. Imogen’s originally from Brisbane but moved to Armidale after uni, where she worked for a few years in a mixed private practice and private hospital role. She’s just moved to Newcastle with her partner and a unicorn of the canine world, a chilled-out kelpie…

Imogen has lots of sports, musculoskeletal and post-surgical physio experience, having worked with rugby and netball teams over the last few years. She enjoys integrating pilates-based exercise into rehab wherever possible and courtesy of her private hospital experience is a bit of a post-operative expert, so if you’re struggling to get going after an operation large or small, she’s a good person to see.

This year Imogen will divide her time between our Newcastle practice and some weekend sports work. If you’d like to make an appointment with Imogen please contact us here or you can book online

Get to know Imogen

When and how did you start working for Ethos?

I’m a recent addition to the Ethos team, only starting here about a month ago! After graduating uni in Brisbane I moved to Armidale NSW and worked in a private practice there for a few years before wanting to move closer to the coast again. I landed in Newcastle looking for a fun and dynamic workplace and found Ethos!

Describe your role in one sentence

I am a physiotherapist – I work with people with injuries or pain to help facilitate their recovery through advice and activity modification, manual therapy, and exercises that can easily fit into their days and help prevent future injury.

What’s the best part of being a physio?

I love the variety that being a physio has to offer – working with people of various ages, different injuries of different body parts, rehab post surgery, sports injuries, etc – you never get bored.

What’s the worst part of being a physio?

When people outside of work find out you’re a physio and suddenly everyone is sore!

What do you enjoy outside of work?

I enjoy taking my dog for walks at the beach, and doing literally anything with my friends – eating, swimming, sunbaking, going out – you name it.

Can you tell us something we probably don’t know about you? (any unusual talents, etc.)

I’ve lived overseas twice – once in Indonesia when I was a baby, and then in France after graduating high school.

Anything unusual about your childhood?

I never learned how to ride a bike.

What makes you smile?

My friends and my family.

What keeps you awake at night?

The smoke alarm in my new apartment that has yet to be repaired and goes off at 4am most nights.

What do you do to stay healthy?

I take my dog for a walk for an hour after work every day and do a pilates class 3x a week.

Any health tips?

Keep moving and do something that makes you happy everyday – state of mind is just as important as physical health.

Who does the cooking at home?

My partner thankfully, I’m a terrible cook! I’m much better when it comes to baking and enjoy it far more.

Would you share a recipe?(an easy, healthy meal – breakfast, lunch or dinner – that includes fruit, vegetables or salad)

Go to weekend breakfast – avocado on toast with feta, tomatoes, mushroom, poached egg, and spinach and rocket.
