When and how did you start working for Ethos?
Last month. Chris contacted me to ask whether I would be interested in helping Benn with the C-Fit* classes at Lake Macquarie.
* C-Fit classes are exercise sessions for people having cancer treatment.
Describe your role in one sentence.
C-Fit classes, individual clients, health screening and health assessments.
What’s the best part of your job?
The variety. I like treating different people and helping them overcome challenges.
What’s the worst part of your job?
I don’t think I’ve found that yet!
What do you enjoy outside of work?
My family. My two daughters (2 and 3 years old). Netball. Horse racing. My husband, Doug, and I have some horses and we regularly go to the races in Sydney.
We like to get back to Walcha where I grew up (and Doug lived for a while) especially for the Walcha Cup (where Doug and Laura met. They married at
the racecourse in Newcastle).
Can you tell us something we probably don’t know about you? (any unusual talents, etc.)
Nickname: Bozza – my maiden name.
Anything unusual about your childhood?
Until I was 12, my family lived in Newcastle where Dad worked at BHP. When it shut down, he trained as a woodwork/metalwork teacher and we moved to Walcha.
I went to uni in Bathurst and moved back to Newcastle to work.
What makes you smile?
My kids. My husband when he’s behaving himself… Winning at netball and the races.
I’m a bit of a smart-arse… I like to have a laugh.
What keeps you awake at night?
My girls!
What do you do to stay healthy?
Netball. I like getting the kids involved in doing active things with me.
Any health tips?
Don’t eat a whole packet of Oreos.
Who does the cooking at home?
I do. Doug’s a truck driver and works long hours so he’s often not home.
Would you share a recipe?
This is my quick and easy “I can’t be bothered to cook”, Fried Rice
1 x Onion, diced
1 x Egg, beaten
1 x C Mixed Frozen Vegies (or whatever is leftover in the fridge)
2 x Tbsp Soy Sauce
4 x Rashers Bacon (or Ham)
2 x C Rice
- Cook up bacon (ham) and onion in a fry pan. Remove and cook egg
- Cook rice as per packet instructions
- Throw all ingredients into fry pan and mix together.
In summer I usually do this on the BBQ to save on washing up
