Fatigue Management Project
CLIENT: Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC)
INDUSTRY: Rail
DURATION: March 2023 - Current
WORKFORCE: Over 2000 people
ARTC maintain a rail network of over 8500km across 5 states, employing more than 2,000 people to build and maintain railway lines, and coordinate the transit of hundreds of trains each day.
PROJECT SCOPE:
To support the review, develop and implementation of the companies Fatigue Risk Management System
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The Heavy Plant Operations teams for ARTC are itinerant teams that operate, maintain and transfer Heavy Rail Bound Plant (Track Machines) across the ARTC network.
ARTC has very short windows for repair of critical rail infrastructure. As a result, a surge workforce during major construction or repair events is required. This will often require extended hours required to be worked with the potential of elevated fatigue risk.
Ethos Health were engaged to conduct a fatigue risk assessment to review and improve current operational documentation and practices to reduce fatigue risk. The risk assessment included a representative workgroup to establish contemporary controls to support the implementation of their FRMS.
